Mesa-reared singer Yuridia returns to the Valley for a concert on Friday, May 15, at the Celebrity Theatre.

Born Yuridia Gaxiola Flores, the singer left the Valley as a teenager to compete on the Mexican reality show "La Academia." Although she ultimately came in second on the singing competition, she emerged as the show's most successful alum.

Following her exit from the program, she released her first album, 2005's "La Voz de un Angel," which earned platinum certification in Mexico. Subsequent albums have all achieved similar success. In the States, she has scored several hit singles, including "Ya Te Olvide" and "Angel." The latter is a Spanish-language version of Robbie Williams' "Angels." Her most recent disc, 2012's "Para Mi," reached No. 4 on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums chart.

Tickets, which are $50-$80, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 6, through and 602-267-1600. Prices will increase $10 the week of the show.
